A change of direction
Bored, fed up, stuck in a rut, fancy something new?
With over 300 full time, part time or voluntary roles, there’s plenty of scope for a fresh start in the NHS. Whatever your previous jobs were, your skills and experience will almost certainly be transferable.
You could choose to start completely from scratch and go back into education to follow a brand new career in a clinical role such as a midwife, therapist or paramedic to name a few. Or, if you like the idea of being hands on with patients, but don’t want to retrain, we have plenty of clinical support roles such as healthcare assistants or phlebotomists which open the door to healthcare professions with on the job training and clear progression routes.
Of course, we also have many non-clinical roles such as administration, managerial or IT where you can ‘hit the ground running’ with your previous transferable skills.
Some good places to start if you are thinking about changing career are NHS careers, the health learning and skills advice line and the national careers service.
