North East Transformation System

Transforming health services in the region to promote excellence

The North East Transformation System (NETS) is our approach to keep improving the quality, safety and effectiveness of local health services so we can achieve our vision.

Maximising creativity and innovation of NHS staff

This approach will maximise the opportunities for NHS staff to add real value through everything they do.  The system has three equally important parts:

Vision - a clear focus

A clear focus on a widely understood and shared vision is essential to the successful application of NETS.  In NHS North East, our regional vision to be 'the leader in excellence in health improvement and healthcare services' guides activity to transform services.

Compact - an agreement

An overt agreement, known as a 'compact', which provides a common understanding of mutual expectations between staff and the organisation.  This underpins the culture of the organisation and clearly defines 'the way we work here' so that all staff and managers are clear about the expected approach and behaviours that should be demonstrated in the workplace.

Method - a management system

A management system which drives quality and operational excellence by maximising resources and removing waste from the way we work.

More time to care

In short, NETS creates more time to care, thereby improving staff morale and patients' experience of healthcare and NHS services.
