Because every patient deserves faster access to treatments
Over the last few years the NHS has provided patients with quicker access to all sorts of treatments. Our ‘End waiting, change lives’ campaign has helped the NHS to make sure that patients are treated within 18 weeks of being referred to hospital.
The campaign helped to raise levels of awareness amongst NHS staff, patients and carers about the NHS 18 week target - which means that the vast majority of patients are treated within 18 weeks of referral to hospital by their GP.
A range of communication materials were developed to do this, including calendars, leaflets and posters. The campaign played a part in helping to bring about faster and more convenient healthcare. The NHS in the north east has achieved the target of treating the vast majority of patients within 18 weeks since December 2008.
